Terms of service

These terms govern your use of VTranslate at vtranslate.cc, its web application and its API. By creating an account or sending a job you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

VTranslate transcribes the speech in a video you provide, translates it into the languages you choose, and returns subtitle files or a copy of the video with captions burned in. Transcription and translation are performed by machine learning models, some run by third-party providers you select per job. Machine output can be wrong. Review it before you publish it.

Your account

You need an account to use the service. Keep your password and API keys secret: anything done with them is treated as done by you. An API key carries only the scopes you gave it, and you can revoke it at any time from the app.

Your content

You keep every right you have in the videos you submit and in the subtitles and videos the service produces from them. You grant VTranslate only the permission it needs to run your jobs: to store the video, send its audio and transcript to the models that process it, and hold the results for you to download.

You must have the right to submit what you submit. Do not use the service for material that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that you are not allowed to share with the model provider you choose. When you paste a link, you are responsible for being allowed to download that video.

Payment

The service is prepaid. You add credit to your balance, currently in Monero. Before a job starts, a hold sized to the video is placed on your balance. When the job succeeds you are charged what the model actually cost plus a platform fee, and the rest of the hold is released. A job that fails releases its hold and costs nothing.

Monero payments cannot be reversed by us or by you. An amount paid over what an invoice asked for is kept as credit on your account. Credit is not refundable in cash, and it is not transferable.

If you use your own provider key, that provider bills you for model usage directly under its own terms, and VTranslate charges only its platform fee.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break, overload or probe the service, to reach another customer's data, or to get around the limits of your account. Automated use is welcome through the API and its keys, within the rate limits the service applies.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error free. Features, models and prices can change. A change to these terms is published on this page with a new date; continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.

Suspension and closing

You can stop using the service at any time and ask for your account to be closed. VTranslate may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why when doing so is lawful.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, VTranslate is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by errors in machine output that you published without review. Total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid the service in the three months before it arose.
